We took a trip to Williamsburg to the Naula showroom to get you the inside scoop on their chic furniture designs. Once there, we were graciously given a tour of the showroom. Even though it was still in the process of being renovated in preparation for their grand opening on August 15th, it was still stunning.

In business since 2002, Naula’s talent has not gone unnoticed, completing residential projects for high-profile clients such as  Robert Kennedy Jr., Lenny Kravitz, Hugh Jackman, Norah Jones, and Rupert Murdoch. His designs have also been featured in such distinguished venues as Esquire SoHo, Pulse Contemporary Art, Maison de Luxe Beverly Hills, and the Hampton Designer Showhouse.

The modern furniture was smartly styled with rustic accessories like animal hides which recalled the designer’s Ecuadorian roots. Angel’s love for designing and fabricating furniture comes from his family, which has been passing down this knowledge for generations. Because of his background he also has a strong sense of community. Always looking to support  other artists in his Brooklyn neighborhood, he displays work from local artists in his showroom as well.

When asked what inspires his sleek designs, Angel replied:

“Yeah, it’s my family that’s an inspiration. It’s like, I’ve been doing this my whole life and I love working with design. I love to create things and that’s what I do. There are a couple of inspirations here and there, like for example when I go on trips.”

I also I got a tour of the workshops where all of Naula’s designs are created, which are located right upstairs so that Angel can keep a watchful eye to ensure his high standards of quality.

Since most of Naula’s business is custom design and reupholstering, he has a special room set aside for photographing his work so that he can show his progress to his clients.

“They get very excited, They can’t wait to see how their furniture will turn out!”

Angel also has environment friendly options, offering water-based lacquers, non-toxic foam, and upholstery in eco-friendly fabrics. Always focused on accommodating his customers, he will work with them to suit his designs to their needs. You can walk into his showroom and pick out any design you like and he will re-imagine it for you.

“We can create the same design and just convert it to make it eco-friendly.”

It was a pleasure for us to sit down and chat with such a warm a soul, devoid of pretension. As soon as he spoke we could feel the deep passion that he has for his work, and it shows in his impeccable craftsmanship.
