Getting Rid of the Winter Blues

It’s finally officially Spring, but still remnants of winter seem to be holding on tightly. This is the time of year when morale is at its lowest, but that doesn’t mean you have to sit around and mope.

Use these tips for beating the winter blues and bringing Spring in with a bang.

1. Reorganize Your Messiest Space

Whether it’s your home office desk, your kitchen junk drawer or the dresser in your bedroom, tackle it today. You may just inspire yourself to move on to other areas of your home and you’ll have a sense of pride in your space that will spill into other areas of your life, as well!

2. Start a New Hobby

There must be something you’ve been thinking of taking up.

Knitting? Writing? Painting?

If not, just got to the craft store and find something that strikes your fancy. Whatever you decide, just make sure to promise yourself to finish at least one product. It makes your new hobby that much more rewarding, even if you decide not to pursue it further.

3. Get Active

Nothing beats the winter blues like getting your heart pumping. Going to a class holds you accountable more so than going to a gym, so you’re more likely to go and give it your all. Set a goal for yourself to go a certain amount of time each week and write it down so you know exactly what’s in store for you.

If you’re already active – Get off the plateau and step it up a notch so you really start to challenge yourself.

4. Plan Your Spring Wardrobe

Whether it’s going to your favorite fashion blogs to gather ideas, or brainstorming to create a new you, spring is the best time of year to get new wardrobe pieces, because they can easily carry you into Summer and Fall (and even winter, with proper layering). So choose wisely, and your pieces will go a long way.

Start by getting rid of any extra pieces cluttering your closet. If you haven’t worn something in two years, chances are, you won’t wear it any time soon so donate it.

Then decide what you need to start filling out your closet. Think basics first, but also add a few pieces that will give some dramatic flair to your wardrobe. Jeans, a white oxford shirt, and go-with-everything-heels are a good start.

Then add a fun sweater like the Chiara to wear with tights, jeans and anything in between.

Use these ideas as a launching pad to get you started. And don’t stop when Spring has arrived. Use the beginning of every season to revamp your life and update areas that need to be refreshed.
